So this past month, I made a few changes: I began posting on Tuesdays instead of Fridays because maybe you won’t get as many posts in your inbox on a Tuesday; I started including audio to my regular posts but not the wrap-up posts. I wrote about how I applied for Social Security Disability Insurance, odd jobs I’ve had (yes, I was a go-go dancer), and what it’s like working with a book coach.
My health, both physical and mental, is well. I was triggered by something a couple of weeks ago and it took me a couple of days to recover from it. I could not keep up with my usual routine, which includes a good diet and exercise, but I rallied and have been doing better since.
At the end of April, I finished reading Trapper Road (Stillhouse Lake #6) by Rachel Caine; Stiff: The Curious Lives of Human Cadavers by Mary Roach; and Age of Vice by Deepti Kapoor. (These are Goodreads links.) So far in May, I’ve read:
The Leftover Woman by Jean Kwok
Little Secrets by Jennifer Hillier (thriller book club)
Home is Where the Bodies Are by Jeneva Rose
Real Americans by Rachel Khong (
will be in conversation with Khong on May 29, 7 p.m. Central)The Searcher by Tana French
Vera Wong’s Unsolicited Advice for Murderers by Jesse Q. Sutanto (yarn store book club)
Wrong Place Wrong Time by Gillian McAllister (thriller book club)
American Seoul by Helena Rho (memoir)
The Tea Girl of Hummingbird Lane by Lisa See
The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid.
I’m currently reading Our Missing Hearts by Celeste Ng and think I can finish it by the end of the month. My favorite May read is The Tea Girl of Hummingbird Lane by Lisa See. You can read my mini reviews on Bluesky.
That’s all for this month!
