Recently, my husband and I and our dogs rented a cabin in Viroqua, Wisconsin. We’d stayed there before, but last time I hadn’t heard of Driftless Books and Music. I happened to come across an article about the used bookstore shortly before we left for our trip, so we checked it out.
The picture above looks like the building for the Viroqua Leaf Tobacco Co., because it was their old warehouse. It’s now home to Driftless Books and Music. The exterior looks original, but I’m not sure about the interior, which is one big space filled with bookshelves. They also sell records and cassette tapes.
In the front of the store are shelves dedicated to popular authors, such as James Patterson, Lee Child, and Clive Cussler. Inside, there’s a section called Amish Romance. Who knew?
Our book haul:
Jesus’ Son by Denis Johnson 1
Dog (out of print) by Michelle Herman, who teaches at the MFA school I went to
The Suspect by Michael Robotham
Caroline’s Daughters by Alice Adams
The Lay of the Land (Bascombe Trilogy #3) by Richard Ford

Your pics made me realize it’s been too long since I’ve been to my favorite bookstore and I’m heading there right after I walk the dog (she’s coming too!). Thanks Barb!!
Ahhh I love discovering great bookstores! I love the pictures you took of the outside and the inside. What a joy.
